The Professional News Opening Intro Template in After Effects

The world of news is changing. More and more, people are turning to social media for their news. And the need for good well-written content is greater than ever.

A professional opening intro can make a huge difference in how an audience perceives your content. The type of intro you make will depend on what your show or article is about. For example, if you’re creating a broadcast segment with the intention of educating, you might want to use more text-based graphics and videos. If your goal is mostly to inform an audience of current events, you may want to use fewer graphics and focus on smaller details like quotes from experts or numbers or statistics. No matter what type of show or article you're making, it helps to have a template that guides you through all the steps necessary for creating a professional opening intro.

Many news shows have very complex technical requirements that must be met. Some require a number of players, some use narration, and some need music. Each format requires a different template. This type of template should be put together for each show and article that you’re working on.

Description

This is usually the first thing you see when people arrive at your site or subscribe to your feed. It has to be descriptive, concise, and engaging. Keep in mind that the introduction shouldn't be too long, but it should tell the audience exactly who you are and what you’re about. Also, it should provide insight into the type of show or article that they’re about to watch or read.

News Opening Intro

Because of its brief format, the news opening intro is a great template for anyone who is making an intro for a broadcast.

A still image is used to show the logo of the network, and a still image is used to show the logo of the station. The title is set to “News Opening Intro.” The logo is added on top of the opening intro using two long Curves, just as shown in the image below.

The same techniques can be used to create short to mid-length infographics that are used to introduce more complex material like statistics or data-driven analysis.

How to use in Adobe After Effects

The Professional News Opening Intro Template in Adobe After Effects is designed for the first look of a broadcast segment or a traditional news article.

Step 1 : The Intro Theme (left). See the screenshot to the right for an example of the 1-2-3-4 After Effects effect.

In this example, we’re using the standard media button to take control of the elements of the action camera (left) and the headlines (right). As with most templates, you can change the title and the background and add images to the dialogue bubble, but it is much faster to select the elements yourself.

Step 2: Set Your Width & Height (left). We used the custom outline to give a bit more definition to the pictures and the headline.

News opening Features

The good news is that the features of this template are extremely easy to use. First, each section has an “add to template” button, which lets you create a new section by clicking the next button in the drop-down list of links. Next, you can choose your theme and add a header to separate each section. Once your section is created, you can change the text or the background color as needed. Then, you can click the “add to show” button again to save your entire project.

The Videos

Each video can be played in reverse chronological order, with the top videos playing first. You can adjust the speed of the videos, as well as the starting time. For more advanced editing and graphics options, you can open a standalone video editor if you wish.

Different Colours

The color red is a big indicator of importance. So to highlight importance, you want your intro to use a lot of red. And your intro should be clearly written in all caps.
